Water Positive Asturias: Gijón Hosts the 1st Water Positive Conference

Today, Gijón welcomed the 1st Water Positive Conference, a pioneering event organized by IndustriAmbiente and Tecnoaqua magazines, in collaboration with the Water Positive Think Tank and the Government of the Principality of Asturias.

Focused on innovation, efficiency, and positive impact in water management, the event marked a milestone in the region by bringing together experts and leaders from the water sector to discuss the present and future of water resources under the “Water Positive” concept.

The opening panel was led by Vanesa Mateo Pérez, Director General of Water for the Government of the Principality of Asturias, who officially inaugurated the event. In her speech, she emphasized Asturias’ strong commitment to sustainable water management and the importance of initiatives like this one in positioning the region as a leader in responsible water stewardship.

Vanesa Mateo introduced the keynote panel members: Daniele Strongone, Alejandro Sturniolo, Domingo Zarzo, and José Díaz-Caneja—all of whom are leading figures in the water sector and influential members of the Water Positive Think Tank. Together, they offered a comprehensive perspective on the origins, evolution, and future of the Water Positive philosophy, as well as the key drivers for its implementation.
